Auburn University’s "Sustainability in Action" Study Abroad Program Returns to Vorovoro in 2024!

We are excited to share that Auburn University is finally returning to Vorovoro in May 2024! After what seems like an eternity, students will once again live and learn with us on Vorovoro, participating through Auburn’s  "Sustainability in Action" Study Abroad Program!

Since 2013, Bridge The Gap has been hosting immersive and impactful study abroad experiences. From cultural integration to conversational connections, Vorovoro is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live and learn on a remote tropical island, immersed in a culture of traditional values of respect, kindness, and humility.

The 'Sustainability in Action' initiative is not just a study abroad program but an odyssey into Fijian culture's heart. Participating students are not merely spectators; they are active contributors to the island's growth and the preservation of the Mali tribe's unique way of life.

At the heart of this program lies the Mali tribe, custodians of Fijian traditions. Tui Mali, the chief of Mali, welcomes Auburn students as visitors and family. The immersive experience involves cultural ceremonies, communal living, and impactful sustainability projects that have far-reaching effects on Vorovoro.

Students are not here to sightsee but to make a difference. From assisting with projects to contributing to local education, Auburn's students are leaving a lasting impact on Vorovoro, empowering the Mali tribe and fostering sustainable practices.
